Wesley Deaton is the managing member of The Deaton Law Firm, PLLC. He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1995 with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications, and obtained his law degree from the University of Georgia in 1998, graduating Summa Cum Laude. While at the University of North Carolina, Wesley served as a small-group bible study leader, was a letterman on the university’s varsity fencing team, was on the Dean’s list, and graduated with ACC all-academic honors.
Wesley has practiced law in the Charlotte area for more than 16 years and has been recognized in his area for his business, banking and transactional practice. He currently serves as the County Attorney for Lincoln County, as general counsel for a number of local businesses and financial institutions, and as the resident manager or director of a number of captive insurance companies. He has been licensed to practice law in North Carolina since 1998, and in 2014, he obtained his New York law license. He and his wife, Virginia, live in Catawba County, and in his free time he enjoys international travel, swimming, tennis, and learning to surf.
Charlie Lane joined the firm in 2015, after becoming licensed to practice law in North Carolina in 2014.
While in law school, Charlie served as Notes & Comments Editor for the Journal of Business and Intellectual Property Law, was a board member for the Phi Alpha Delta professional law organization, and was a Class Representative for the Student Bar Association. During law school, Charlie produced two published papers, one in the area of funeral and cemetery law and one in copyright law.
During his second summer of law school, Charlie interned at a Greensboro law firm specializing in entertainment law and criminal law. Since graduating, he has worked in the areas of workers’ compensation, social security disability, and commercial real estate. In his free time, Charlie enjoys cheering for UNC sports, playing golf, and cooking with his girlfriend Sabrina.
